But much of Valenti’s book delivers thoughtful observations on serious under-the-radar issues: Why, for instance, if men are typically drunk when they acquaintance-rape, are women expected to drink less to avoid it? Chapters are followed by punchy, unorthodox advice on combating double standards. “Take being called a bitch as a compliment. Because it means you’re doing something right.”
